Not all automatic weapons have Selective Fire. This term designates the ability to switch between firing in full automatic mode (i.e. the weapon repeats its firing cycle for as long as you hold down the trigger) and semi-auto mode (pulling the trigger fires one shot, then ejects the empty cartridge and loads the next one).
When trying to hit targets at long range, firing only one bullet at a time will give you added stability, as your Soldier will be able to control the recoil better than in automatic fire.
Once you have selected a weapon that has selective fire, simply hit the weapon selection key again (for example, press [2] if your weapon is equipped in slot #2).
You will then see a message that says “Switch Firing Mode (AUTO/SINGLE)” when a weapon that has this feature.
Only the LMGs, SMGs and automatic rifles listed below have this functionality.
