How do I send weapon upgrades to the Equipment Depot?
Currently the only way to send weapon upgrades (a.k.a. “mods”) and ammo to the Depot is to first have them equipped on a weapon. When you send that weapon to the Depot, the equipped upgrades will follow.
Once transferred to the Depot, upgrades, ammo and skins will be separated from their parent weapon. You will then have the possibility to redistribute them to soldiers who have unlocked the ability to use them.
This means that
- When you retrieve a weapon from the Equipment Depot, it will not come with any weapon upgrades (“mods”) attached.
- The weapon’s new owner will need to unlock the weapon upgrades before he can take them out of the Depot.
Unfortunately there is currently no menu in the game interface to send individual upgrades and ammo to the Depot. We will eventually add that feature in a later update.
How does this affect weapons that are locked/unavailable because of the soldier’s career?
Transferring weapon upgrades can be a problem when you have legacy soldiers. These are the characters created before 2016-08-22, during the Open Beta. Until recently, legacy characters still had the ability to change careers. With the release of Update 1.24.1 (November 2021), all careers are now permanently locked. Transferring soldiers between different army branches is no longer possible.
Any equipment that your legacy soldiers are now unable to equip because of class limitations can be transferred to the Depot for free.
If a legacy soldier owns weapons intended for a different class (i.e. weapons that he can no longer use) and sends these unavailable weapons to the Depot, any weapon upgrades that are not currently equipped will stay in this soldier’s inventory.
If he cannot use these upgrades on a different weapon that he owns, these mods will unfortunately no longer be accessible, which makes it impossible for you to transfer them to the Depot, because you won’t be able to see/equip them in the game interface.
Should you encounter this situation, please simply send a support request and we will send your legacy soldier’s weapon upgrades to the Depot for you. Ideally, please specify the faction, name, rank and army branch of the affected legacy soldier.
